Day 4

Try something new. We often get settled in our lives and in our daily routine. It ends up that day after day we do the same things, sure some things are a little different. But basically the same, we get up around the same time go to work at the same time, and take our breaks and lunches at the same time. We go home, eat dinner and go to bed at the same time. We watch the same tv shows at the same times on the same night of the week it comes on. Remember when you were young and how the day just awaited with new adventures, new people to meet and new things to learn. Remember the excitement and zest for life we had then? That same excitement we had made us live life to the fullest! Maybe the world would be a better place if we could all retain that excitement for life! Take a crafts class, a wood working class, make different foods, get involved in a book club, or volunteer at different organizations. Just get excited about live again and live each day as if it were your last!

Favor in God’s eyes. In this devotion they talk about Noah and the ark and how he found favor in God’s eyes because while the world was so wicked, he followed God no matter what others thought of him. He may not have always been perfect but in his heart of hearts he followed him. And believed with everything he had in Him He tried as best he could to do the right things for God. So God found favor in him and told him to build the ark, so he lived while everyone else was trapped on earth when it was flooded. Some times we ask ourselves if we will find favor in the eyes of God? All that really matters is that we believe with all our might in him and we try with everything we have to do right by him.God knows if we are doing our best and we will find favor in His eyes!

Day 3

Rest in God. Rest to be silent, be still, wait. Sometimes our plans are not the plans god had for us. However if we rest in him he will show us the way he wants us to go. We may not always know that it is his way but it is. Think about something that you have done and not really known why, could that be his way and how did it turn out? For me it was moving here to NC I love this place and it has helped me to be here in so many ways. Ways that sometimes no one else understands but me and God I think from now on it will help me to take 10 minutes, each day, out of my schedule, clear my mind of everything, be content and just rest in him.

My devotion for today was "His brother’s brother" It refers to Genesis 4:1-12 Cain killed his brother Abel all because he was mad that God looked upon Abel’s offering with more favor than Cain’s offering. When God asked Cain where his brother was Cain said "I don’t know am I my bothers keeper?" But God knew what had happened. The devotion sais

No he was not his brothers keeper
Zoos have keepers
Bees have keepers
Prisons have keepers
But only families have brothers

I think this is a lesson of love and respect your family and others around you. Treat them how you would want to be treated. Because in the end it will all come back to you 10 fold rather it be good or bad. In this story God punished Cain and banished him from the garden. So no matter what it comes back on you, It will come back in this world and come back on you when you come face to face with God. Treat others how you would want to be treated and good things will come back to you. Rather it come to you here on earth or in heaven. But it will happen! Good things happen to good people.

Day 2

Uncover the joy of you! 1 peter 4:10 sais each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering Gods grace in its various forms. When you think about it no one is perfect at everything but everyone is perfect at something! Rather it be making that one dish that everyone loves, being the perfect mommy to your baby, being a perfect listener, or a perfect cleaner. Just think about it, its really awesome that rather you notice it or not everyone everywhere has a gift. One purpose for being on this earth! The book that im reading sais Albert Einstein had behavioral problems, dyslexia, and was a poor speller and yet he formulated the theory of relativity. WOW!!!! did you guys know that? I sure didn’t! Its kind of inspiring, if he who struggled in some areas did that much good, think what we as individuals are capable of doing! So today im going to look myself in the mirror, not pick myself apart, or think about what’s wrong with me but instead im going to think about what makes me unique and what God has made me perfect at. And I will notice all of the things I LOVE about me!

Today’s devotion is "Temptation’s strategy" How does the devil tempt you to do things that would never appeal to someone else? Ill tell you how, he makes it something that he knows will hit you in your weak spot. For eve it was the apple, pleasing to the eye and good for food. If the serpent would have pointed out a half rotten apple she would not have taken it then. He makes the risk seem minimal and the reward seem great when in fact it is the exact opposite of that. The same way he did that to her he will do that to us. He know our weaknesses and will play them. But we just have to keep our minds on what we are really risking, our relationship with God! And that should be the most important thing of all.

Day 1

Some times all we can do as people is take it day by day, step by step, one moment at a time. So that is exactly what I am going to be doing. I am reading my devotional bible one daily devotion at a time. And I am reading 101 ways to find Gods purpose for your life, one way, one day at a time! Step by step I will find my way to me!

So my #1 way to find Gods purpose in my life was discover your strengths. I believe I have already done this! I finally decided through all of the questioning of “what am I suppose to do in life”, that I should become a teacher! I have always loved kids. I have been baby sitting ever since I can remember and I loved every moment of it. I always tried to teach people things and for some reason they just got it. It’s almost like I can relate to people the way they need and I can make them understand things that they didn’t before. I am also very patient. I guess I get it from my dad haha.

My devotion for today is a self image in the image of God. It’s really something that I don’t think we get the full picture of. God, all mighty, all powerful, maker of everything, created us man and woman in his image. Sitting here watching intervention wondering if these girls who are taking coke and heroin know that God is inside of them that he made them in his image. That we are a temple of him. I think it all boils down to we don’t think we deserve to be created in his image and really we don’t but the beautiful thing is we ARE! No matter if we think we deserve it or not. No matter what has happened to us or what we have done to ourselves God is still in us and part of us and we are beautiful because of that. Also I think that the more good things in life a person does the better they will feel about themselves. I think that we don’t always realize it but no matter how much people tell us we are beautiful or we are smart or we are sweet, nice, kind or any other good things, we don’t believe them because we feel like we are not good enough, but if we do something to help others or give something to someone who needs it or help someone get through a tuff time then we feel worthy and good about ourselves. In short some of our self-conscious is caused by the lack of positive acts that we produce.

Goal:
Say something nice when you want to say something hateful.
Do a nice thing for someone who has never done anything nice for you.
Smile at someone who looks like they are having a bad day.
Forgive someone who never said sorry.
Give something to someone who needs it.

And with each good act we do slowly but surly build our self-image back up! At the end of the day think about the good you have done vs. the bad that you COULD have done. Maybe just maybe that one smile or good deed could be just what the other person needed to keep on living.

*Smiles ARE contagious! =)
